More freight trains are due to start running through Spalding following the ongoing multi-million pound GNGE line upgrade.
The additional freight “paths” formed part of discussions Network Rail held with residents at information sessions regarding the upgrade in the summer.
As of December 15, there will be a total of 22 new freight paths a week, with 12 running between Monday and Friday and ten for Saturdays.
No new freight services have been added on Sundays.
A spokesman for Network Rail said: “From December 15, more freight services will run through Spalding.
“This has always been planned as part of the multi-million pound investment into the GNGE line, and was discussed with the many local people that came along to our drop-in events during the summer.
“It is important to note that freight paths – time when services run – are different to those for passengers.
“Although they are ‘booked’ and timetabled, they may not run everyday, and may not begin running from the first day of the new timetable.
“Some paths will only run as needed (dependent on demand and need), some may be seasonal, and others will be regular.
“However, we have to plan the timetable as if they will be running every day.”
Details of the new services are:
Monday to Friday paths are split into six overnight (passing Spalding between 8pm and 8am) and six during the day (passing Spalding between 8am and 8pm).
Saturday split is seven paths from 12.01am to 8am and three paths between 8am and 11.59pm.
