Freemasons pick wellbeing charity

A Spalding Freemasons lodge has donated hundreds of pounds to one of the town’s health and wellbeing charities.

Michael Morris, Chair of Trustees for Tonic Health, the local health and wellbeing charity, was delighted this week to receive a donation of £750 from Welland Lodge 9556 towards the Focus Group which is run from Tonic Health for those with dementia and their carers.

The charity said donations are a welcomed source of income to the group and each donation can be spent on activities, such as a recent trip to Burtey Fen heritage centre in Pinchbeck this Sunday.

Each year Lincolnshire Freemason Lodges are encouraged to nominate two local charities for a donation from the New Provincial Benevolent Fund.

This year grants amounted to a total of £106,500 and were awarded to 138 beneficiaries by 73 Lodges across the county.

Members of Welland Lodge 9556 in Spalding said the group was delighted to nominate Tonic Health as one of their two charities.

A spokesman said they wished Tonic Health “continued success in providing these essential support services to local people”.
