Free skate and BMX jam in Spalding

A first skate and BMX jam – which could evolve into an annual event – is taking place on Tuesday (Aug 2).

The venue is Spalding skate park at Low Fulney Field (opposite St Paul’s Church) from 10am to 5pm.
Throughout the day there will be exhibitions by British champions and free coaching sessions for all ages. Entrance is free to all.

Coun Pete Williams, St Paul’s ward member for South Holland District Council, urged anyone with an interest in BMX or skateboarding to go along and support the event.
He said: “As a councillor we are given a budget to spend in our ward but there are so many good causes out there it can soon disappear.

“I wanted to give something to the youth of St Paul’s that could be developed into an annual event. This will require support from the whole area, for instance under 16s will need parental permission.
“If we want to develop the day for future years we will need a small committee made up of all ages and I would ask that anyone who is interested to contact me now or after what will be a superb day on Tuesday.”

Jan Whitbourn, of Tulip Radio, said: “This is an excellent initiative for young people in the area and it would be great to see the youths from Donington, Gosberton, Holbeach, Long Sutton as well as from Spalding.”
