A group of over 55s from Spalding found their festive spirit last week at a fun, free, floral evening at Springfields Festival Gardens in Spalding.
The seasonal evening was part of First Time for Everything, a programme designed by Royal Voluntary Service to support physical and mental health and wellbeing.
Supported by players of People’s Postcode Lottery, First Time for Everything gives people, particularly those who are older or less mobile, the opportunity to try something new for free in their local community, and to be social and active.
Expert tutors from Springfields Festival Gardens led the session, with participants trying their hand at wreath making and floral table decorations. Hot drinks and mince pies were available afterwards.
Janette Brennan, of Spalding, attended the free First Time for Everything festive wreath making evening.
She said: “Meeting new people was very good, with lots of laughs and chat. I didn’t think I would be able to make a wreath so it was a real confidence booster to know that I was creative.
“The wreath is a lovely addition to our front door.”
Andrea Briggs, Royal Voluntary Service activity co-ordinator for Lincolnshire, says: “We have lots more sessions planned for local people to enjoy next year, and are grateful for the continued support of the players of People’s Postcode Lottery who make these events possible. They mean so much to the people taking part.”
