Free course in Spalding to help children live healthier lives

A free 12-week programme encouraging more children to take up exercise and learn more about diet, nutrition and healthy eating is starting in Spalding next month.

Spalding Health and Wellbeing Community Interest Company received funding from the Bromhead Lincolnshire Healthcare Fund to set up Aktiv Kids.
It will run at Tonic Health, Broadgate House, Westlode Street on Thursdays from 4.15pm to 5.45pm, starting on April 14.

It is open to any child of primary school age and priority will be given to children who do not regularly achieve recommended levels of exercise per week, or who have concerns regarding weight or other diet-related issues.

Each session will be split, so those attending will receive 40 minutes of varied exercise, and 40 minutes of a healthy eating session.

Qualified fitness instructor Nikki Cundy will be leading the exercise, with Tonic Health nutritionist Jenny Holcombe, chefs from Cook Connect, and South Holland District Council community development officer Jess Horn leading the healthy eating.

For more information, and to register a place, call Sam Hill on 01775 725059 or visit www.shawcic.com for more information.
Places are limited to 25 children, and will be issued on a first-come-first-served basis.
