Free comics at Halloween event

A Spalding comic shop will give away hundreds of free comic books as part of a global celebration of all things spooky.

Strange Apparitions, at the Spalding Lifestyle Centre, is one of the thousands of comic shops around the world celebrating Halloween ComicFest (HCF) on Saturday, October 27.

Each year, thousands of participating shops celebrate Halloween by giving away free comic books.

“Even if you’ve never picked up a comic book, we want to welcome everyone to Strange Apparitions on October 27th,” said owner Alexander Hunt.

“There are over 30 free great titles being released this year, including comics for the upcoming Hellboy film, and a tie-in to the Rise of the TMNT series on Nickelodeon.

“For manga fans, we also have comics by acclaimed horror writers Junji Ito and Tsutomu Nihei.

“It’s a fantastic way to try out new comics, and get into the Halloween spirit at the same time.”

This is the first year Strange Apparitions is joining the celebrations for HCF.

“From a new take on classic characters like Spider-Man, to showcasing major franchises like Hellblazer and Goosebumps,“ Alexander continued.

“There are so many amazing titles available this year and we’re confident everyone will find something they love.”

Regular updates, information about comic books, and a list of participating publishers and their free comics are all available online at www.halloweencomicfest.com.

Halloween ComicFest at Strange Apparitions kicks off at 10am and runs until 5pm.
