The trial of a Spalding man accused of failing to supply memorial headstones to his customers has been delayed for four months.
Julian Karl Gaunt, 50, was due to go on trial at Lincoln Crown Court today (Tues).
But the hearing was told Gaunt’s trial could not go ahead as both his legal representatives and Lincolnshire County Council who are bringing the prosecution required more time to consider the case.
At a previous court hearing Gaunt, of Queen’s Road, Spalding, pleaded not guilty to eight charges of fraud relating to the supply and erection of memorial head stones on dates between 20 October 2015 and 22 July 2016.
He also denied a further charge of theft of a memorial headstone between 1 July and 31 December 2016.
Reorder Gareth Evans QC adjourned the case for trial at Lincoln Crown Court on 30 September this year. It is expected to last three days.
Gaunt was granted bail until his trial.
