Fox and Claxton take title at Sutton Bridge Golf Club’s Seniors’ Open Day event

The Seniors’ Open Day at Sutton Bridge Golf Club attracted a host of players this year – and one of the winners was from the home club.

Some 48 players contested the two-ball/better-ball Stableford format, which was sponsored by Leesons Garage and raised £272 for Prostate Cancer and Mind.

Sutton Bridge’s very own Roy Fox teamed up with King’s Lynn ace Charles Claxton to win the pairs competition on 48 points.

Second place went to South Kyme duo Vic Smith and Phil Gilbert (46pts), who edged out Spalding Golf Club’s Ray Harrison and Derrick Brand (45pts) in third.

Sutton Bridge’s Mark Charnley and his partner David Carter (Cold Ashby) were just behind in fourth, while Barry Stamford and Alan Worthington took the nearest to the pin prize.

  • Sutton Bridge duo Sarah Sheldrick and Ryan Rout-Lester finished fourth at the Seacroft Mixed Open.
