Four thrillers in Spalding Inter Services Cup

The Spalding Inter Services Cup served up goals galore on Saturday as four sides progressed into the semi-finals.

Long Sutton Athletic were the leading scorers on the day as they fired five against ChromaSport Peterborough League rivals Holbeach Bank.
Goals from Bank’s Ashley Sheedy and Sam Thompson couldn’t stop the Magpies flying to a 5-2 triumph.

Also in the hat for the next stage are Sutton Bridge United, who edged out Pinchbeck United Reserves 3-2 in perhaps the pick of the Saturday showdowns.
A Ben English brace and Bradley Fox’s strike steered Bridge to glory at Knight Street.
Matthew Earth and Tyler Wright had ensured that hosts Pinchbeck were level at 2-2 when the half-time whistle went.

Crowland Town Reserves were another side to hit three goals.
They had just too much for Tydd St Mary at Snowden Field as Kevin Hubbard, Oliver Hurford and Corban Oldham struck to clinch a 3-1 triumph.
Aaron Parker did notch for the Saints, but they fall at the first hurdle.

Meanwhile, Old Doningtonians ensured that it’s not a Peterborough League clean-sweep in the last four after getting the better of hosts Holbeach United A 4-3.
Dexter Facey, George Fowler and Robert Thurlow netted in vain for the beaten Tigers.
