Four-midable snooker pair remain top in Division Three

There’s seemingly no stopping Gosberton D and Pyramid E in Division Three of Spalding and District Snooker League.

Both sides made it four wins from as many games last Thursday night, with Gosberton D edging out Consti E and Pyramid E seeing off Services D.

Gosberton’s win was incredibly hard-fought, as they needed frame victories from Nigel Goodwin (R21), Shane Davies (O21) and Jack Craft (R21) to earn a 4-2 success.

Whittlesey C are also going nicely in third. They made it three wins on the trot by dispatching Donington D 5-1, keeping their 100 per cent record intact. Their wins came from Graeme Sawyer (O14), Mick Blythe (R14), Pam Slaughter (R21) and Steve Jennings (O21).

Meanwhile, Long Sutton C broke their duck for the season with a 5-1 home victory over Consti A.

Gavin Shinkin (R7), Susan Lefley (R14), Rachel Mayfield (R21) and David Lefley (scr) delivered the goods for Sutton – and left Consti as one of three winless sides.

Up in Division One, Tulips B rediscovered their best form to humble Holbeach D 5-1 and go second.

Mark Woodberry (O55) was their star with breaks of 32 and 28, plus a 27 clearance.

They are level on points with leaders Sutton B, who still boast a 100 per cent record after brushing aside hosts Pyramid A 5-1 thanks to wins from Tom Horspool (O14), Glenn Ryan (O14), Carl Parnell (O42) and Wayne Howard (O21).

Tulips A are just a point off the pace thanks to their 4-2 victory at Holbeach A. They were inspired by Bren Bowman (O63), who pocketed breaks of 20 and 30.

At the other end of the table, Donington A and Holbeach C both enjoyed their first taste of victory this season.

Tony Scully’s (scr) final frame heroics ensured that Donington squeezed past Crowland C 4-2, while Holbeach C blew away Services E 5-1.

In Division Two, a Mark Gray inspired Bourne SC A are top following their 4-2 success at Services B.

The talented O98 handicapper trousered a 61 clearance and made a mesmerising 77 clearance en-route to his first frame triumph of the campaign.

Consti G, who are still undefeated, are two points behind them with a game in hand after they sealed a 5-1 victory at Crowland A.

Two points further back are the also undefeated Crowland B, although they had to work extra hard to keep their flawless record in one piece. Jeff Roberts (R7) won on the final black in his decisive final frame against Gosberton A’s Peter Waterfall (R14) as Crowland prevailed 4-2.

Elsewhere, Mark German (O21) made a 22 clearance but saw his Consti H side go down 4-2 at Gosberton B.
