Former fish and chip shop owner cleared of sexual activity with a child

A former fish and chip shop owner accused of having sex with a 14-year-old schoolgirl has been cleared by a jury following a retrial at Lincoln Crown Court.

Peter Donger, who ran the Chips Ahoy shop in Spalding, denied any inappropriate behaviour towards the girl.

He told the jury he never had sex with the girl and there was no sexual contact between them

Donger, 38 , of Market Lane, Walpole St Andrew, denied two charges of sexual activity with a child between 1 February and 26 December 2016. The jury found him not guilty of both charges.

Richard Thatcher, prosecuting, suggested that the girl had a crush on Donger and claimed he then took advantage of her.

Donger said that sex never took place between himself and the girl.
