Ford fires five as “fantastic” Holbeach United Sunday cruise into Lincs Cup semi-finals

Co-boss Tim Cole admitted that his Holbeach United Sunday side are “buzzing” after thrashing Scothern United 8-1 to move into the last four of the Lincs FA Sunday Cup.

Five goals from joint chief Josh Ford inspired the Tigers at Carter’s Park, with Jonny Allen, Aaron Eyett and Billy Smith rounding off the rout.

Jon Fairweather was man of the match for Holbeach, who now await the semi-final draw.

Cole said: “We always said that it was important to go into the game with the right attitude and concentrate on ourselves – and that’s exactly what we did.

“We pressed high and worked hard for each other, making sure we won the first and second balls.

“In the first half-hour we played some fantastic football and this was reflected with the scoreline.

“Josh Ford and Jonny linked up really well with each other again and were a handful.

“Credit to Scothern, who didn’t let their heads drop and kept going.

“All of the lads were superb and did exactly what was asked of them. The fact that we are all good friends on and off the field really shows through.

“It was brilliant to see so many people down watching as well and cheering us on. We are all absolutely buzzing to be in the hat for the next round and look forward to the draw.”

Joining Holbeach in the last four are The Notts FC, Rustons United and Chancel FC.
