FOOTBALL: Waumsley helps Tulips march on; Moulton Harrox shock title chasers

Tom Waumsley scored again as Spalding United stretched their unbeaten league run to 14 matches with a 2-0 win over Rainworth Miners Welfare.

The striker – also on target last weekend in the draw with Norton United – put the Tulips’ noses in front on 47 minutes.
However, home fans were only able to breathe easy in the 89th minute when Jack McGovern’s goal finished off lowly Rainworth.
The result lifted the Tulips back into fourth place in the Evo-stik NPL First Division South table. They are ten points behind top two Newcastle Town and Sutton Coldfield Town with six matches in hand.
Next up for the Tulips is a trip to Premier Division Stamford on Tuesday (7.45pm) for the rescheduled Lincolnshire Senior Trophy quarter-final.
Meanwhile, in the ChromaSport Peterborough League, Moulton Harrox pulled off the result of the day, winning 2-0 at title-chasing Oakham United. Ian Bradbury grabbed both goals.
As a result, Harrox leapfrog Pinchbeck United into sixth place in the Premier Division table. Ian Dunn’s side lost out by the odd goal in nine at Leverington Sports.
