Football shorts: Big upset in Inter-Services final, Harrox Reserves clinch title, Saints promoted and Sunday Tigers seal a treble

Spalding Town upset the odds to beat Long Sutton Athletic 3-1 in the Spalding Inter-Services Trophy on Saturday.

Goals from Robbie Cundy, Kev Childs and Aaron Eyett earned underdogs the win at Carter’s Park, despite red cards for Ricky Dickinson and Ashley Wilson.

Billy Oliver hit back from the spot for the Magpies, who were stunned by a side well below them in the ChromaSport PDFL pecking order.

  • Moulton Harrox Reserves beat Tydd St Mary 3-1 on Tuesday to retain the ChromaSport PDFL Division One title.

Tydd were promoted to Premier DIvision with a 1-0 win over Crowland Town on Saturday. Top scorer Jake Clitheroe got the only goal.

In the Premier DIvision, Joe Townsend’s strike earned Moulton Harrox a 1-0 win at Thorney.

  • Holbeach United Sunday completed a Spalding Sunday League treble by beating Aintree 6-1 in the KO Cup final over the weekend.
