An annual football tournament has boosted a charity’s coffers to the tune of £900.

The Bakkavor charity football tournament, organised by Bourne Prepared Produce and held at Spalding’s Castle Sports Complex, raised cash for EACH (East Anglian Children’s Hospices).

Trevor Hewson, operations manager at Bourne Prepared Produce, said: “Teams from as far as Somerset and Scotland made up 24-team competition which was fiercely contested in fine spring sunshine.

“After a long, hot day New Primebake Warriors from the site in Cheshire prevailed to run out winner for the first time, beating the Deli Lions from Bakkavor Spalding 1-0 in the final.

“The tournament was excellently officiated by three Spalding referees, Jon Fowler, Jon Mowatt and Andy Murray, who generously donated their match fees to the chosen charity.”
