Folks Head to Live and Rural

An acclaimed folk trio are heading to Saracen’s Head.

Tarren comprises Sid Goldsmith, Alex Garden and Danny Pedler.

All three are well known in the UK’s thriving ‘New-Folk scene’ and are now making waves as a trio.

They’re coming to Saracen’s Head Village Hall on Friday, October 17 at 7.30pm as part of The National Lottery and Arts Council’s Live and Local series bringing music to rural areas.

A spokesman said: “These Bristol-based virtuosos are the vanguard of the New-Folk movement, infusing traditional melodies with a contemporary vitality that will more and excite the audience.

“By creating emotion-driven music and incorporating modular hooks and minimalist forms, Tarren is leading folk music to a new place while keeping the pulse of traditional dance at its heart.

“This ‘mini folk supergroup’ combines cittern, concertina, fiddle and accordion in their performance.

“Tarren’s music is energetic, emotional and incorporates unconventional musical influences making for an enjoyable night of English Folk music with an innovative twist.”

Tickets are £13.50 or £10.50 for those under 16.
