Flypasts set for 1940s weekend in Spalding

History comes to life again in Spalding this weekend at the Ayscoughfee 1940s Weekend.

Set for the two-day event is a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight flypast on both days, weather permitting.

On Saturday and Sunday (August 11 & 12), Ayscoughfee will be full of memorabilia displays, stalls, vintage vehicles and entertainment, including dancing and singers.

At 2.30pm on Sunday the annual VJ Day Remembrance Parade will take place.

There will also be an appearance from “VIP guest Winston Churchill”, so expect a few photo opportunities too.

As with all themed events, dressing up is encouraged and will add to the feel of the day – so unfurl those nylon stockings and put your hair in rollers, or dust off that vintage military garb for a weekend parade.

The event runs from 10.30am to 4pm on both days and admission is free.

It is organised by Spalding Gentlemen’s Society, South Holland District Council and Ayscoughfee Hall Museum.
