Flying Scotsman set to come through Spalding tomorrow

The iconic Flying Scotsman locomotive is set to steam through South Holland and Spalding again tomorrow, (Saturday, June 23).

The train is travelling down the East Coast Mainline on which it once became the first steam engine to exceed 100mph in 1934 as part of the Scarborough Flyer excursion.

It leaves Scarborough at 6.25am and is due in Lincoln around 9.45am. It’s then estimated to head through Spalding at around 10.45am.

Later in the day its due to return along the same route, but this time it will be pushed be a diesel locomotive. On the return it is due to return to Lincoln at approximately 8.45pm.

There’s still a handful of tickets available for the full journey, according to the website, but a standard ticket costs £193 with Premier Class seats costing £305.

The locomotive last came through Spalding in April where crowds of people lined the railways for sight of the legendary steam engine.
