The newly appointed ‘enviro-crime’ team will give a council’s new fly-tipping policy teeth, it’s been claimed.
South Holland District Council is to adopt the Litter and Fly-Tipping Strategy along with the other two councils in the South and East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership.
It was discussed by the authority’s Cabinet on Tuesday when Coun Bryan Alcock said he had concerns it “lacked teeth”.
“It’s the scourge of the district and I hope this strategy works,” he said. “I don’t think you’ll convince a farmer that he’s not going to be subjected to this sort of thing constantly.”
Councillors pointed to the appointment of private company Kingdom.
Coun Roger Gambba-Jones: “We’re now using a different tool kit.
“Up to know we’ve been using our own resources and we’re now drafting in a company we can utilise.
“They can use their resources to monitor access points to individuals area and identify the criminals, and they are that, often gangs making money.
“Companies like Kingdom will respond as much as we invest.
“My team are fed up of going to locations and doing an excellent job of clearing up only to have revisit time and again.”
