Flower lovers raise charity cash

More than £1,000 has been raised for charity thanks to a china tea party.

Organised by members of Saracen’s Head Flower Club, the event, held in September, raised cash for Alzheimer’s and Dementia charities.

The evening started with tea, before a flower demonstration by Ann Purts.

That was followed by an auction with plants donated by Gedney Bulb Company, bulbs from Taylor’s Bulbs and other items donated by members.

There was also a balloon game and a raffle with more than 50 donated prizes.

The event raised £1,050 and a cheque was recently presented to Zoe Turner, local representative of Alzheimer’s and Dementia.
