A party to mark The Queen’s 90th birthday is being held in Fleet this summer.
Fleet and Gedney parishioners will be invited to the celebration get-together in the field behind The Anglia Motel.
The non-profit making event on Sunday, June 19, will be free to attend, with parishioners, friends and families encouraged to bring a picnic.
Fleet parish councillor Eileen Gilliatt said: “We will be having a VIP tent with free picnics for parishioners who were born the same year as the Queen or earlier.”
There will be an exhibition of local schools’ work and prize competitions. Under-eights and nine to 15-year-olds are being asked to draw or paint an A4 portrait of the Queen. For over 16 and 17-yer-olds and adults the challenge is to decorate a cake fit for a queen’s birthday.
Entries will be taken along on the day and put on display in the exhibition marquee.
Other attractions include music by The Dream Belles and Retrospekt, old time music, arena events and party games, a falconry display, stalls and games, a bouncy castle, face painting, a vintage hair and make-up artist and a raffle with prizes from local businesses. And with it being Father’s Day, there will be a special game for dads.
A special commemorative brochure featuring memorable events that have occurred during the Queen’s life, along with pictures and details of the event and those supporting it will be available to buy as a keepsake.
Coun Gilliatt said: “We are busy making all the arrangements and a flyer will be delivered to all parishioners in Fleet and Gedney during March.”
The event is supported by Fleet and Gedney parish councils and a pick-up bus will cover outlying villages.
