Five-star Pinchbeck United showing ends winless streak

Pinchbeck United ended a month-long winless run by thrashing rivals Deeping Rangers Reserves 5-1 in the ChromaSport Peterborough League’s Premier Division on Saturday.

Alex Jenkins, Mark Lovelace, Adam Abell and sub Aidan Moore (2) were all on target at Knight Street to give Ian Dunn’s men their first three-point haul since beating Riveside 4-0 on January 10.

The victory leaves Pinchbeck in eighth place, but they are just six points off the top three with games in hand on most of the sides above them.

Also in the top flight, Dan Jenkins was among the scorers as Oakham United handed Holbeach United Reserves a 4-0 reverse. The rout leaves Omar Joof’s men in the bottom three.

Below them, rock-bottom Crowland Town went down 3-1 at home to Thorney despite a strike from Virginijus Simkus.

In Division One, strikes from Matt Eaton, Ben Partridge and Ben English earned Sutton Bridge United a 3-1 home win over Ryhall United, but it was a day to forget for South Holland’s other sides.

Long Sutton Athletic were drubbed 10-3 at Oundle Town, despite goals from Matt Cawthorn, Mark Garner and Tim Lowe, while Moulton Harrox Reserves were thumped 6-0 at AFC Stanground.

There was also a defeat from Division Two side Pinchbeck United Reserves, who went down 3-2 at Wittering despite strikes from Jamie Francis and Tyler Wright.

Elsewhere, late goals from Jason Powley (81) and Nick Reims (86) earned Tydd St Mary a 2-1 triumph at Farcet United to solidify seventh place in Division Three.

Above them, Spalding Town remain fourth after Gary Booth’s second-half effort earned them a 1-1 draw at fellow high-fliers Peterborough PL United.

Division Four side Sutton Bridge United Reserves, meanwhile, were hammered 6-0 at ICA Sports B to ensure they stay in the bottom three.

It’s going much better for Whaplode Drove in the Division Five, though, as they raced to a 4-0 success at Parkway Eagles Reserves to stay eight points clear of the rest.

Doubles from Luke Baines and Lee Jackson did the business for Drove.

Also big winners in the bottom tier were Holbeach United A, who beat Parkside A 5-0. Tom Cherry (2), Ben Gibbons, Harvey King and Robert Lewsley grabbed the goals for the Tigers.
