Fisher takes advantage of rain to leap up standings

Kime Racing rider Tom Fisher recorded three podium finishes, including one win, at Brands Hatch in round six of the No Limits Pirelli Super 600 championship at the weekend.

That enabled the south Lincolnshire-based rider to move from fourth to second in the overall rider standings, with two rounds remaining.
After topping the table in qualifying, Fisher started the first race on Saturday from pole position and maintained the lead throughout the race.
On lap eight of 11 he had stretched his lead to more than two seconds when the race was red-flagged and a result declared at positions on lap eight, meaning he took the win and the 25 championship points.
In the second race on Sunday, Fisher started from the middle of the front row and settled into second place behind Tommy Fielding. By lap five Casey O’Gorman caught and passed him and Barry Burrell seemed intent on doing likewise. However, Fisher held him off to remain third when once again the red flag halted the race on lap 10 of 12 and a result declared with Fisher awarded third.
Placed in the middle of the second row for the start of the final race, Fisher moved straight into third place on the opening lap and up to second on lap three. This time the weather had deteriorated with drizzle falling, which made the track slippery. With Burrell away in the front and leading by more than four seconds, Fisher became embroiled in a four-way battle for second place, which he held until lap eight of 10 when O’Gorman demoted him to third. Fisher could not regain second place but held off Dave Grace to secure third.
The three strong finishes elevated Fisher to second on 251 points, 72 behind series leader Burrell, with two rounds and six races left.
The next round is at Oulton Park, over the weekend of September 1/2.
