Fish are in limited supply after Tydd Gote Angling Club’s change of venue

Tydd Gote Angling Club members rued the decision to change locations for the latest Sunday club match as weights plummeted.

This week’s venue was the usually dependable Blackdyke stretch – but it seems the shoals of roach have already moved out to their winter haunts.

There were two separate battles for the top places, where Pete Emery found 30 tiny roach and rudd for a miserly 15oz to edge out Andrew Kilby on 10oz.

The tussle for third place was equally tense as Archie Greenwood (4oz) used his years of knowledge of the venue to come from behind in the final minutes to pip Steve Borrett by just half an ounce.

Wednesday Open result (Main Road) – 1st Archie Greenwood 27lb 12oz; 2nd Ian Benton 18lb 2oz; 3rd John Taylor 17lb 6oz.
