Firm’s 25k windfall for local charities

Over £25,000 has been raised for local charities thanks to one of Spalding’s largest employer’s annual Fun Weekend.

Thousands attended Bakkavor’s annual event at the Springfields Event Centre back in July.

It helped the food producing firm raise £25,000 of which £10,000 each will go to Spalding’s World Ware Two Memorial Fund and Boston’s Salvation Army.

Bakkavor is also donating monies to other charities and local groups that attended the event including Spalding and Pinchbeck British Legions, Jerry Green Dog Rescue, Spalding Town Husbands, the Venture Scouts and South Lincolnshire Triumph Owners Motorcycle Club by matching the amounts they had individually raised over the weekend.

The firm described this year’s event as the biggest so far with a host of stalls and attractions over two days.

Mike Edwards, chief operating Officer UK, commented: “Our Bakkavor weekend was a huge success this year with a great number of our employees and their families, together with members of the public enjoying the event.

“We’re delighted to have been able to support these local charities and I would like to thank everyone who volunteered their time as well as all the people who joined us to make this a very special weekend.”
