Workforce evacuated after fire inside Pinchbeck factory

Fire crews from across Lincolnshire descended on a Pinchbeck factory on Tuesday night after a fire in a plant room.

The blaze was reported at 10.37pm at Greenyard Produce’s Distribution Centre off Stephenson Avenue.

Crews from Spalding, Donington, Holbeach, Kirton, Bourne, an aerial ladder platform from Boston as well as officers from Grantham and Market Rasen were in attendance.

They used breathing apparatus, one hose reel and one main jet to extinguish the fire.

The cause of the fire is yet to be identified.

A spokesman for Greenyard Produce, said: “On the evening of Tuesday 27th August there was a contained fire at Greenyard Fresh, Stephenson Avenue site Pinchbeck Spalding.

“All 40 staff on the site at the time were evacuated safely.

“Our primary concern is the wellbeing of our staff and we are thankful that everybody at our Stephenson Avenue site is safe and well.

“We are grateful to the fire service for their prompt response overnight. We are currently assessing the impact of the fire and expect to be allowed access to the Stephenson Avenue site from noon on Wednesday August 28.

“Greenyard is working hard to mitigate any disruption for customers, growers and suppliers.”
