Arson arrest after Holbeach home fire that led to cannabis farm discovery in separate property

A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson after a Holbeach house fire this morning (Monday, October 20) that also led to a cannabis farm being discovered at a separate property.

The fire was reported to have broken out at a former vets on Boston Road South shortly after 5.30am.

The road was closed with both ambulance and fire crews in attendance at 6.30am, but was opened a few hours later.

One resident suffered ‘minor’ injuries a spokesman for Lincolnshire Police said: “A 20-year-old-man has been arrested on suspicion of arson and two counts of assaulting an emergency worker. He has been bailed.”

In an unrelated incident, police said they discovered a cannabis farm at a nearby property.

The spokesman continued: “As part of the evacuation process in the vicinity, a cannabis grow was discovered in one of the adjacent terrace properties – this matter will be investigated separately.”

It’s understood the Holbeach Fire Crew were unable to attend as it had already been called out to another incident.
