Fine Cambridge win keeps Spalding Water Polo in pole position in Herts League

Spalding Water Polo are sitting top of Herts League Division after a 15-9 success over Cambridge.

The Spalding side showed their strength from the start, scoring four goals in the first three minutes and leading 4-2 at the first break.

The second quarter was evenly matched, with both teams finding the net four times each, making the half time score 8-6.

Spalding then took charge of the final two quarters, with Jon Davis defending well in goal.

Their goals came from Damian Makwana (6), Ed Martin (4), Chris Barham (2), John James (2) and Tom Marsters.

Prior to that victory, Spalding travelled to Dunstable hoping to continue their winning streak – but found the opposition too strong, who were in control of all four quarters.

Spalding lost 13-6 in the end, with goals from Phil James (2), plus one apiece for Chris Barham, John James, Tom Marsters and Ed Martin.

The next home match is against Cambridge at Spalding’s Castle pool on November 12 (9pm).

Anyone is welcome to watch and perhaps get inspired to try a new sport.
