Finals weekend success for Spalding bowlers

Spalding Indoor Bowls Club hosted their club finals weekend recently.
The weekend started with the blue ribbon events as Chelsea Spencer beat Sandra Hammond 21-5 in the ladies’ singles final and Dominic McVittie beat Graham Smith 21-18 in the men’s singles final.
Spencer and McVittie will represent Spalding in the national champion of champions for the 2023/24 season.
The finals were followed by a trophy presentation on Sunday evening for all leagues and competitions throughout the season.

Men’s Singles – McVittie beat Smith 21-18.
Men’s Pairs – Dan Mills and McVittie beat Paul Turner and Martin Simpson 20-8.
Men’s Triples – Martin Spencer, Simpson and McVittie beat Brian Martin, Mills and Jordan Philpott 19-7.
Men’s Fours – Jack Wells, Oliver Stanley, Kevin Ekins and Philpott beat Andy Dunham, Simpson, Harry Mycock and McVittie 21-20.
Ladies’ Singles – Spencer beat Hammond 21-5.
Ladies’ Pairs – Ann Newbury and Maggie Wheatley beat Carole Nunney and Julie Hicks 17-10.
Ladies’ Triples – Ann Newbury, Lily Drawbridge and Maggie Wheatley beat Ruby Hill, Trish Stafford and Tracy Philpott 24-18.
Ladies’ Fours – Nunney, Michelle Billingsley, Betty Deaton and Hicks beat Jean Patterson, Petrine Ault, Philpott and Karen Martin 23-3.
Ladies’ Drawn Pairs – Sue Slayven and Sue Jackson beat Jenny Wakefield and Anita Phillips 24-13.
Mixed Pairs – Patterson and McVittie beat Turner and Wheatley 28-6.
Mixed Fours – Arthur Brinkman, Jenny Wakefield, Dee Brinkman and Eric Wakefield beat Patterson, Mick Dolton, Betty Deaton and Cliff Searson 20-11.
Rabbits Singles – Eric Wakefield beat Gavin Staite 21-20.
