Festive fun with a twist in town

Festive shopping will have an exciting difference on Saturday, December 11, with the next free pop up event taking place in Spalding town centre.

Transported and South Holland District Council are working together to launch Spalding Super Saturdays, which take place on the second Saturday of the month until February.
At the December event, Spalding town centre visitors will be treated to pop-up performances of fiddle playing by Serena Smith, stilt walking and magic from Helter Skelter Arts and face painting by Dawn Allan.
At the Transported gazebo passers-by can chat to Spalding Gentleman’s Society about their collection and peruse postcards featuring some of the pieces.
From the Transported team come and collect a free activity pack with materials to help create a beautiful community-made Spalding parish map – it’s perfect to keep adults and children alike occupied during their Christmas break.
Director of Nick Jones said: “I was overwhelmed at the positive response to our first Super Saturday.
“Over the day we had hundreds of people enjoying music, street theatre and circus performances, and taking away our arts activity kits, and we had such positive and appreciative comments from the public.
“Spalding is a lovely market town with lots of character, and people are enthusiastic about these arts events adding energy and interest to their shopping experience.
“We are already looking at broadening out what we do on December 11, so there is more for people to do and enjoy, and more reasons to shop locally.”
This project has been made possible thanks to the Government’s Welcome Back Fund and Arts Council England.
