A host of events are taking place at Peterborough Cathedral next week to mark one of the most famous queens of England.
The Katharine of Aragon festival is taking place from Saturday January 24 to February 1.
In honour of the first wife of King Henry VIII who was buried in the cathedral 490 years ago, events including history tours, workshops and performances will take place.
There’s something for all ages from the Monks Mischief and Marauders tour on Saturday to historian and author Adam Pennington’s talk on The Exeter Conspiracy, when Henry VIII turned on his own family.
Crafts include embroidery workshops for beginners and intermediates.
The highlight of the programme is a full day of activity on Saturday, January 31 which will see a number of activities in and around the historic building.
A spokesman for the cathedral said: “Throughout the week, the festival offers a vivid journey into Tudor life – from courtly customs and everyday experiences to the beliefs, politics, and artistry that shaped an extraordinary age.
“Whether you are a history enthusiast or simply looking for a memorable experience, the Katharine of Aragon Festival promises a fascinating journey into the past, join us as we celebrate this remarkable queen and explore the enduring Tudor heritage of Peterborough.”
