Stamford Gilbert and Sullivan Players will be putting on a special show this Saturday as part of a village’s flower festival.
The group’s musical inspiration is also the theme of this year’s bloom displays at St Mary’s church in Pinchbeck.
To mark the occasion, the players will be performing a show entitled The Story of Gilbert and Sullivan at the church at 7pm on Saturday, April 29.
It will include some of the most famous songs created by the Victorian duo who wrote some of the most beloved comic writers.
Tickets are £12 each or £6 for under 16s and available from Birchgrove Garden Centre who can be contacted on 01775 680490.
The Flower Festival itself is running for five days and starts today (Thursday) running until Monday.
A spokesman said: ” We are delighted that the Stamford Gilbert and Sullivan Players will be performing The Story of Gilbert and Sullivan in our Festival Concert and, in celebration, we have chosen their music and songs as our theme.
“You will meet pirates, little maids, sorcerers, judges and juries, gondoliers, wandering minstrels, the Lord High Executioner and many, many more!
“After the return of the fun and laughter to St Mary’s at our first post-COVID festival last year, we are really hoping to see our villagers and our local extended community join us again during this five-day Flower Festival.
“We look forward to local crafters and photographers joining the artists this year in the exhibition and sale of their work. In whatever capacity you would like to join us, we will be delighted.”
