Farmers and landowners are being asked to share their views on Brexit at a special event next month.
The Country Land and Business Association (CLA) wants to capture the thoughts of its members on the opportunities and risks surrounding Britain’s decision to leave the European Union.
Director of policy, Christopher Price, will address the meeting at the Lincolnshire Showground on Thursday, September 15 (2.30pm until 4.30pm), outlining what the CLA is currently doing on behalf of its members, before leading a discussion on key issues such as the Common Agricultural Policy and what could replace it; the UK’s approach to trade negotiations with the EU and the rest of the world; the opportunities and risks of changes to regulations; and the future of labour supply.
CLA East regional director Ben Underwood said: “Extricating the UK from the EU will be a enormous challenge for the Government. It will require skilled international negotiations, careful planning, and significant consultation with businesses from every economic sector.
“It is at times like these that everyone involved in agriculture in this country must work together to ensure our industry is heard as the policies and priorities of post-Brexit Britain are scoped out.”
He added: ““It is important our members have their say in what is a once in a generation opportunity to shape the future of our industry. Together we can put farming in the best position to grasp the opportunities ahead.”
