‘Family’ at heart of furniture business

cammacks3Selling good value, high quality furniture since 1919, Cammacks has become a familiar and respected presence in Boston.

This year it celebrates its 95th year, during which much has changed but much has also stayed the same.

From its humble beginnings as an outlet for cabinet maker Francis Cammack’s own furniture, the marble-fronted store in Wide Bargate now offers a range of upholstery, occasional and dining furniture, bedroom furniture, beds and mattresses, accessories, carpets and flooring and curtains and blinds.

But the ethos of “family” at the heart of the company is going strong.

Tony Cammack is fourth generation of the family and is now at the helm.

His 16-year-old son Adam is now taking his first steps into the family firm, working on the delivery vans and getting a ground-up view of the business – just like his father did 29 years ago.

Tony said: “Some of our staff have been here 40 years so it is like one, big family.

“To say we have hundreds of years experience in selling quality furniture is no exaggeration, and along with a friendly greeting, this is what people get when they walk through our door.”

It’s a nice relaxed atmosphere. Customers can just browse without a pushy salesman, or they can get professional attention and advice from someone who knows what they are talking about.

The formula is obviously successful, as this year’s sales are up on last year.

cammacks2Tony said: “We have a reputation for being expensive, but we are not.

“We sell mid to high-end furniture at a competitive price for what you are getting. It is worth every penny of the price tag and we offer good after-sales care into the bargain.

“We pride ourselves on looking after our customers and making sure they are happy with their choices.

“Our aim is to help our customers create their perfect living space, making it an extension of their personality and somewhere to express their own style.

“I think the strength of our sales goes to show that we are appealing to all generations – there is something for people of every age and to suit every home.”

So why not find out for yourselves and accept Cammacks’ invitation to call and browse through four floors of furniture and furnishings at your own leisure.
