FA Vase frustration for Tigers, Moulton Harrox win again

There was frustration all round as Holbeach United saw their FA Vase last 16 tie with Erith and Belvedere postponed on Saturday morning.

It initially looked like the Carter’s Park pitch had been passed fit after a 10am pitch inspection, but it was deemed unplayable following a second viewing at around 11am.

That means the duo will have to try again next Saturday (3pm). Before then, the Tigers visit Huntingdon Town for a UCL Premier Division clash on Wednesday night (7.45pm).

Elsewhere, it was a mixed day for the Tigers in the UCL title race. Leaders AFC Rushden and Diamonds won 2-1 at Deeping Rangers to move 11 points clear of John Chand and Graham Drury’s side, who do have four games in hand.

Second-placed Yaxley, meanwhile, lost 3-2 at Wellingborough Town. They are just a point ahead of the Tigers, having played three games more.

In the ChromaSport Peterborough and District League, Moulton Harrox kept their fine form going with a 4-1 win at Thorney. They are now just two points off third spot in sixth.

Pinchbeck United were held 1-1 at home against high-flying Netherton United, while struggling Crowland Town lost 4-0 against Coates Athletic.

Also beaten 4-0 were Holbeach United Reserves, who bowed out of the PFA Senior Cup at Oakham United.
