Extra police hand out fines in Spalding town centre operation

Extra police were drafted into Spalding town centre on Tuesday, March 13 for a day of handing on the spot fines to offenders.

Cyclists not dismounting or not using lights were particularly targeted for hefty on the spot fines.

Officers also handed out penalties for other offences they saw.

Inspector Gareth Boxall of Spalding Police, said: “Cycling without lights is dangerous for all road users and cycling on pavements is a nuisance and a danger to pedestrians.

“We get lots of complaints about these issues and these are the reasons we have such days focusing on these offences.”
