South Holland’s only Parkrun is celebrating its fifth anniversary soon, and it wants to do so in style.
Parkruns have proved a huge hit across the country with people able to just sign up and run the organised 5ks on Saturday mornings.
There is just one in our area though, held at the Snowden Field in Crowland at 9am every week.
To mark the fifth anniversary of the running of the event, its organisers want to break its current record attendance.
That was the 136 finishers and 30 volunteers who helped oversee its 100th event in October 2022.
Rebecca Pearce, who is on the event’s organising committee, said: “We’re one of the smaller Parkruns with an average attendance of around 60 participants, but on Saturday, April 27 we will be celebrating the fifth birthday event and need your help.
“We are really keen to beat the highest number of participants and volunteers on the day.
“Whilst we would welcome those in fancy dress or, in Parkrun milestone tops, this is definitely not mandatory, we just want people to attend, and the more the merrier.
“There will be cake at the finish line to celebrate.
“It can be run or walked, as fast or as slow as you want.
“Please help us celebrate five years of our local Parkrun and beat the current attendance records.”
You can take part if you are not registered with Parkrun, but you won’t get a result time.

If you would like to volunteer, or want more information, please see the Snowden Field Parkrun Facebook page or email [email protected] so they know how many people they have for the volunteer roles.
People gather for the runs from 8.30am onwards for the 9am start.
