Emery wins with tiny net as big fish fail to arrive for Tydd Gote AC’s meeting

It was a tough day at the office for those Tydd Gote Angling Club members fishing the Wednesday Open on the North Level at Main Road.

The drain was at winter levels but dropped by over four inches during the match and with high pressure, clear skies and a biting downstream wind, fish were hard to come by.

Pete Emery was just below the concrete and fished a top kit, at 6m and on the feeder to take a miserly but winning 2lb 6oz of small silvers.

SLIM PICKINGS: Pete Emery’s net of 2lb 6oz was enough for first place.

Dennis Houghton was on peg two and also caught tiny silvers on a top kit for 1lb 8oz and second place.

And that was it! No-one else weighed in – although many did sit it out on the feeder for a bonus fish or two that just didn’t show up.

The Sunday Club Match was cancelled due to the adverse weather.
