Emery seals Tydd Gote Angling Club winter league title with Sunday success

Pete Emery took the honours at the latest Tydd Gote AC Sunday club match with two bonus fish in the final half hour to secure the win and top spot in the Winter Points League.

But it was a difficult day for all those taking part with a howling downstream wind and an influx of cold water discouraging the fish from feeding.

Emery took a good skimmer on his long pole line with 30 minutes left and then added a tench last cast, both to worm, for his 4lb 14oz net.

Don Green was second with 5oz of micro roach with Steve Borrett third on 2oz and Dennis Houghton in fourth with 1oz.

Final league placings: 1st Pete Emery 129 points; 2nd Andrew Kilby 117 points; 3rd Don Green 90 points; 4th Steve Borrett 83 points; 5th Dennis Houghton 78 points.

Wednesday Open results: 1st John Taylor 7lb 8oz; 2nd Don Green 5lb 12oz; 3rd Dennis Houghton 4lb 8oz.
