Emery eases to big victory at Tydd Gote Angling Club meet but fish are in limited supply

Tydd Gote Angling Club returned to the Raisen’s Bridge stretch on the North Level for their latest club match – and what a dour event it turned out to be.

With heavy overnight rain and gin clear water, fish were at a premium.

The swim everyone wanted, peg five, went to Pete Emery – and belief in that base was well founded as he romped home with two big tench to worm, the best going 7lb 4oz.

That gave him a total of 13lb 4oz total, which was by far and away the best weight of the day.

Andy Toogood continued his good run of form in these matches with a single tench to worm from the downstream end peg for 4lb 4oz and second place.

Weights nosedived after that, with only three other anglers catching.
Indeed, Grzegorz Chalat, Archie Greenwood and Steve Borrett all found single roach to finish equal third.

Wednesday Open result (Black Dyke): 1st Archie Greenwood 11lb; 2nd Don Green 6lb 3oz; 3rd John Taylor 6lb.
