Edgeller’s brilliant century

Saturday was a complete wash out for cricket in Lincolnshire, but the area’s Sunday sides did get a game in.
And it was a fantastic day for Long Sutton Sunday 1st XI’s Paul Edgeller who hit a brilliant 102 not out from 74 balls against Whittlesey.
The Rutland Sunday Division Two leaders enjoyed a 102-run, rain affected win after 302 for 9 from their 45 overs after being put in.
Calvin Bird (47) dominated the early scoring with Jacob Gray (40) providing able support before upping the rate though James Hook’s 14 ball 23 and Dan Oldfield’s quicker than a run a ball 16.
Edgeller came in with Sutton 133 for 4 and after putting on 45 with Gray, then enjoyed a partnership of 73 with Oliver Taylor (13).
In total he hit three sixes and 10 fours in his 102 before being the last man out.
A rain shower meant nine overs were lost and gave Whittlesey a revised target of 276 from 41 overs and struggled to keep up with the run rate.
Sutton’s bowlers took wickets at regular intervals led by Jake Burton (3 for 35), Daniel Plant (2 for 17), Joe Miller (2 for 33), Dan Oldfield (1 for 37) and Charlie Crisp (1 for 49).
Josh Fox and David Drage (both 32) top scored for Whittlesey as they were all out for 173 in the 37th over.
Long Sutton 2nd XI lost by 98 runs in Division Four East.
Adidda elected to bat and posted 173 for 9 from their 40 overs.
Faz Mukhtar was the pick of the Sutton bowlers taking 4 for 39.
Steven Milnes (2 for 27), Alastair Drohan (1 for 8), Andy Shaw (1 for 26) and Araz Keshwara (1 for 35) all took wickets.
The Sutton reply never got going with number 10 Milnes top scoring with 14 not out as they were 75 all out in the 32nd over.
In the same division, Moulton Harrox Sunday side’s 99 all out in 33 overs was chased down by Peterborough Town 2nd XI with five wickets in hand.
