Early finish for Peppermint Junction Holbeach roundabout

A major road scheme in South Holland has been completed months ahead of schedule.

Two new roundabouts have been created at Holbeach in the £5.4m Lincolnshire County Council project.

As well as the roundabouts, the work has opened-up access to potential residential land to the east of the A151.

Development land for Peppermint Park, a food enterprise village, can also be accessed.

The project was not due to be completed until March next year and sees a previous T-junction on the A17 replaced.

But work has now finished and the new-look junction is up and running.

In the last few weeks all the remaining resurfacing work has been completed and a culvert completed.

There had been concerns over traffic disruption when the A151 was closed for work to be carried out.

The project was part-funded by the Greater Lincolnshire Enterprise Growth Fund, with the remainder coming from developers and the county council.

Public consultation started in September 2015 with a planning application submitted in November the same year.

Permission was granted in March 2016 and contractor Eurovia was appointed a year later, once funding was secured.

Construction began on site in May 2017 and was due to be completed in February next year – but it has come in ahead of schedule.
