Player/boss Ian Dunn toasted a five-star Pinchbeck United performance on Saturday.
Having fallen behind at Uppingham Town thanks to a cracking direct free kick from James Howe, Pinchbeck roared back to lead the ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division clash 2-1 at half time.
That’s after Nick Bishop turned home a Brad Murrell cross and Liam Ogden buried a Tony Edwards delivery.
Top scorer Edwards then made it 3-1 from the penalty spot early in the second period, before Murrell smashed an absolutely sensational direct free kick into the top corner.
There was still time for Edwards to finish off the move of the match with his 26th goal of the campaign, having converted Louis Sae-Be’s delivery.
The win keeps Pinchbeck second ahead of their final two games of the season.
Dunn, who missed the game through injury, said: “To be fair, Uppingham are always a difficult side to play against. They had chances early on and went ahead from a free kick.
“We didn’t really deal with their big man up front, either.
“But credit to the lads, we got ourselves ahead – and once it went to 3-1, we were passing the ball around superbly.
“It became a bit like a training exercise and we finished the job off well.
“We took 18 players to the game and the team was really well supported by a coach full of people.
“There’s a really good vibe around the club at the moment. To have a full bench away at Uppingham at this stage of the season speaks volumes about the team spirit here.”
Pinchbeck: Ashton, A Murrell, B Murrell, Gardner, Drummond, K Ross, Wright, Bishop, Francis, Edwards, Ogden. Subs used: Brooks, Eyes, Sae-Be. Not used: Withers, Brown.
- Goals from Brad Murrell, Liam Ogden and Ian Dunn fired Pinchbeck United to a 3-1 derby win over Holbeach United Reserves at Knight Street on Tuesday night.
Davy Shepherd pulled one back for the Tigers in the ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division clash.
The result means Pinchbeck will be guaranteed to finish at least third if they win at Crowland Town on Saturday (2pm).
