Dunn’s delight at landing top target Ross as new Pinchbeck United assistant boss

Ian Dunn reckons that new assistant manager Allan Ross may just be the best signing Pinchbeck United will make all summer.

The former Boston United under-16 boss, who also worked with ex-Holbeach chief Glen Maddison during his time with Sleaford Town, was the player/manager’s number one choice to join his backroom staff.

Having chased him all summer, Ross finally committed himself to the Knight Street club last week – leaving Dunn delighted.

He added: “It’s great to have Allan on-board. He’s a very, very good coach that has experience of football higher that the level we’re playing.

“He’s very enthusiastic and committed to our cause, while also being a very good people person.

“The lads will love him and I’m very pleased we’ve got him on-board. He was the person we wanted from day one – and it’s great to get the deal done.”

Other notable deals done by Pinchbeck over the close season have seen ex-Horncastle Town striker Tony Edwards and former Holbeach defender Ash Murrell agree terms.

Young trio Kofi Ross, Harry Vince and Ollie Coulam have also agreed to sign for United, while skipper Ollie Maltby and talented hitman Adam Abell have shrugged off interest from higher-ranked sides to stay.

Dunn is speaking to a host of other targets, including a new goalkeeper, ahead of the new ChromaSport Peterborough Premier Division season.

Meanwhile, young talent Tyler Wright was on target as Pinchbeck drew their first pre-season friendly fixture 1-1 at Sleaford Town Reserves on Wednesday night.

Wright headed home an equaliser at Eslaforde Park after the hosts had taken an early lead.

Dunn dubbed the youngster “the best player on the pitch” and has suggested that he may be part of his first team plans for the coming campaign.
