Dunn rues red cards as nine-man Pinchbeck United make county progress

Pinchbeck United needed extra time to win 2-0 at Langtoft United in the Lincs FA Junior Cup on Saturday – but boss Ian Dunn was left to rue red cards to Tom Brooks and keeper Jordan McCready.

Amazingly, both sides ended up with nine men after 90 minutes at Manor Way Sports Ground after Langtoft saw Steven Slack and Lee Mills dismissed.

Pinchbeck eventually saw off their ChromaSport Peterborough League Premier Division rivals with extra-time strikes from Bradley Murrell and Liam Ogden.

It was no more than Dunn’s in-form side deserved, with Pinchbeck the dominant force throughout.

But the boss was left feeling deflated – despite seeing his side keep a fourth clean sheet on the trot.

“There was no malice in the game,” bemoaned the Knight Street supremo. “There really didn’t need to be four red cards, all of them could have been avoided.

“I don’t think anybody, other than the referee, would have argued if all four lads had stayed on the field.

“It’s a real shame for us, as we now lose our keeper and a defender, both of whom have played a large part in us keeping four clean sheets in a row.

“It was pleasing to see us look so dominant, though. We should have won the game in 90 minutes – neither of our two keepers had much to do, while we had plenty of chances and pressure.

“Now the team is settled, we’re looking really good.

“Keeping four clean sheets in a row is something to be celebrated at any level of football, you don’t see many sides doing that.”

Pinchbeck, who host Stilton United in the league on Saturday (3pm), have two more reasons to celebrate.

They were recently awarded the PDFL’s team of the month prize for September – having gone the whole month undefeated.

They’ve been handed the PDFL’s respect award for September, too.
