After fantastic reviews for this first two, a Spalding author has released his third novel.
Britannia Strikes is out on Amazon on October 6 and is the sequel to Britannia Rises published in 2023 and part of a planned eight-book series by Russell Dumper.
Following on from the first Britannia book which won three ‘Bookstagram Awards’ the royal family are looking to further the spread of the British Empire and the factions around the world trying to stop them.
Russell, a father of two, said: ‘The first draft of this one was completed around 20 years ago, but I didn’t really complete the full story until much later.
“It’s a natural progression of the tale, following the same characters and introducing several new ones.”
Russell says the plan is to release a book every year.
“I finished the first draft of book eight a few months ago and am in the editing stage of that one.
“All the others are at second or third draft stages and just need a bit more editing, then they’re ready to release.”
Earlier this year Russell released a stand alone novel in The Hero Virus, which has again received numerous positive reviews and been nominated for an award.
“I really can’t get over the overwhelming support and positive response to the books.
“Having decided to leave my publisher earlier this year and continue this journey solo, it was all a bit daunting, but readers seem to like my books and that’s the most important thing.
“The early reviewers all came back with suggestions and feedback, most of which are in the finished version of the novel.
“It’s nice to be able to get opinions from readers and be able to act on them.
“The Amazon publishing platform gives me the ability to react and make changes, which is something the traditional publishing model does not offer.
“The passion many readers have for my first two books is something I can’t barely believe and still takes me by surprise.
“I’ve already noticed a much more emotional response to this book than to Britannia Rises, which is amazing, as that’s exactly what I was aiming for.”
Russell will be in Spalding Library to celebrate the release of the book on October 23 at 1.30pm.
He will read an excerpt and sign copies.
All are welcome and refreshments will be provided.
