Dring hits century

Ollie Dring hit a fantastic century as Spalding 2nd XI had an impressive win over Sleaford 2nd XI in the South Lincs and Border League West One.

The opener hit 18 fours in his 102 not out from 104 balls as Sleaford’s 192 was chased down.

Ethan Lawrence scored 42 in the 106 run opening partnership and Nilantha Atapattu 38 not out to see his side home as a strong Spalding team earned the win with nearly three overs in hand.

Earlier Sleaford were restricted to 192-7 in a fine bowling performance led by Macey Andrews (3-42) who left the home side 33-2.

Two wickets from Thomas DeCamps (2-26) left them 67-4, though most of the middle order chipped in with Ben Glendinning (38) helping them to get up to 190.

That proved not enough to stop Spalding from sealing a fairly comfortable win in the end.

* Spalding 3rd XI suffered a heavy loss to Heckington in Division East Two after conceding 292 runs.

Heckington made good use of the wicket having won the toss and elected to bat.

Amelia Gardner (1-13) and Stanley Watson (1-22) ousted openers Steve Brumpton (25) and Jason Marroitt (31).

But Steve Scott and Pritesh Patel took the game away from Spalding.
Scott scored 88 before being out caught by Watson off the bowling of Barnaby Dring (1-40).

But Patel hit a fine 100 not out and, with Suketu Patel, took Heckington up to 292-3 at the close of the 45 overs.

It became more about survival for Spalding and they frustrated Heckington by batting out their 40 overs.

Michael Morris top scored with (26) followed by William Gardner (25), Ayra Ranaut (19) and Gardner (16).
