Dring hits 135 for day’s only winning result

Spalding Town were well beaten at Burghley Park in the Premier Division of the Lincolnshire Premier League.

The hosts scored solidly throughout their innings to reach 243/7, with Josh Lawrence (3-54) the pick of the Spalding bowlers.

In response, Jon Manton (28) and Divyeash Vaseeharan (26) put on 52 for the first wicket but they then collapsed to 150 all out.

A frustrating 91-run fourth-wicket partnership proved to be the difference between Moulton Harrox and their hosts Boston in Championship South.

Matthew Rose (4-44) and Harry Lovell (3-50) were among the wickets but, despite using five other bowlers, Moulton were unable to prevent the home team reaching 225.

In reply, Moulton fell to 54/5 before Charlie Poulter (36) inspired a mid-innings revival. However, it was not enough and the visitors were bowled out for 148 to go down by 77 runs.

There was an even heavier defeat for Moulton Seconds in Division One South, where they suffered a 191-run reversal at Heckington.

Jamie Parrish top-scored with 28 and there was a late 26-run blast from captain Rob Callaby to boost the score from 100/8 to 138 all out.

Dinesh Elangovan (29) was Long Sutton Seconds’ top scorer in their six-wicket defeat at home to Boston Seconds in Division Two South

The only win of the day for local sides was recorded by Spalding Seconds, who romped to a 183-run success at home to Skegness Seconds.

Chris Dring led the way with a knock of 135 that included two 6s and 22 4s in the hosts’ 281/9. In response, James Frascella (5-16) and Max Cooper (4-24) skittled the seaside team for just 98.

In Division Four of the Rutland Sunday League, Moulton Harrox went down by nine wickets at Ketton Sports.

After losing two early wickets, Harry Lovell (66no) and captain Charlie Poulter (27) got things back on track, only for collapse to leave them 147 all out in 25 overs.

Ketton needed five more balls to reach a winning score of 148, but for the loss of a single wicket.
