Dring excels with bat and ball

Spalding continued their charge up the Lincolnshire Board Premier League table with their third win in their last four completed games, having waited ten for their first success.

Neighbours Bourne were their latest victims as Spalding chalked up a five-wicket success.
Harsh Bhandari, Barnaby Dring, Keyan Gace and Ollie Dring all took two wickets as the visitors were bowled out for 226. An 87-run third-wicket stand between opener Ollie Dring (69) and Gace (90no) paved the way for the victory charge as Spalding reached 227/5 inside 36 overs.
Long Sutton remain at the foot of the table after suffering a seven-wicket defeat at home to Bracebridge Heath. The hosts were 38/6 until Josh Baker (35) and Peter Cook (23) added some respectability as they rallied to 103. However, that was not enough with the away team reaching 106/3 in just 15 overs.
Moulton Harrox dropped off the title pace in the South Lincs Border League Championship but remain clear in second place, despite an eight-wicket defeat at third-placed Sleaford Seconds.
Josh Newton hit an unbeaten 105 in Moulton’s 226/5 but Sleaford reached 229 in reply for the loss of just two wickets.
In Division One, Sutton Seconds’ Rob Simpson ended with 5-18 to sink Royal Boston for 100 with opener Aron John (59) leading his team to an eight-wicket win.
Spalding Seconds travelled to Woodhall Spa Seconds with only 10 men but battled well to pick up bonus points, despite facing a stiff target of 364/7. An unbroken third-wicket partnership of 150-plus between Mike Kearns (105) and Sam Webster (59) denied the hosts maximum points as they closed on 200/2.
Moulton Harrox Seconds lost to Orton Park Seconds in Division Two but the top three all suffered defeats and remain well clear of chasing pack. Mohammad Alam hit an unbeaten 62 in Moulton’s 183/8, with Orton reaching 186/8 with eight balls to spare.
In Sunday’s Division Three game, a dads and lads team represented Spalding Thirds at Royal Boston Seconds and lost by 117 runs, despite Josh White’s 3-24.
