Dramatic finish as Ady and Joe clinch Snooker Singles and Pairs crown

Tulips duo Ady Sibley and Joe Garland got their hands on the last piece of silverware dished out at the Spalding and District Snooker and Billiards League’s finals weekend on Saturday.

Garland (scr) and Sibley (O21) saw off Tulips team-mates Mike Sampson (O7) and Martin Deacon (O7) 3-2 in the Snooker Singles and Pairs final at Crowland RBL.

The first frame saw Sibley beat Deacon 68-24, before Sampson beat Garland 56-43. Deacon and Sampson then won the doubles, only for Sibley to beat Sampson 61-45 to set up a decider.

Sadly for Deacon, he went in off the final black to hand Garland a 67-57 win and the title.

The league’s match secretary Susan Lefley said: “We saw some great play over the two weekends and we had plenty of compliments about the table.

“The attendance for the main weekend was OK, but Saturday, sadly, wasn’t very well supported – we need to look at it really.”
